⚠️ This calculator models standard weekly overtime (over 40 hours/week) only. Colorado has additional daily-overtime rules (e.g. daily hours beyond a state-specific threshold at 1.5x/2x) that this calculator does not yet compute — treat overtime pay as an estimate.

Colorado Hourly Wage Tax FAQ

What is $25 an hour after taxes in Colorado?

Roughly $42,000 net per year for a single full-time worker, after federal tax, 7.65% FICA and Colorado’s flat 4.40% state tax. Run the calculator above for your exact numbers.

Does Colorado have daily overtime rules?

Yes - Colorado requires overtime for hours over 12 in a day (or over 40 in a week), and this calculator models weekly overtime only, so daily-OT situations should be treated as an estimate.

Are there local income taxes in Colorado?

A few Colorado cities (Denver, Aurora, and others) charge a small flat Occupational Privilege Tax - a few dollars a month, not a percentage of wages - which this calculator does not include. There is no city percentage income tax.

Methodology & Source

Colorado state tax figures sourced from Colorado Department of Revenue (https://tax.colorado.gov/), citing Colo. Const. art. X (flat rate mandate) — 4.4% per Proposition 121 (2022). Federal brackets, standard deductions (single/MFJ/HoH), and FICA constants sourced from the IRS (Revenue Procedure 2025-32; married-filing-jointly Additional Medicare threshold of $250,000 is a separate, unindexed statutory figure). Colorado's married-filing-jointly and head-of-household figures are not yet independently verified and currently fall back to single-filer brackets — see the caveat in the formula section above.

This is an estimate based on standard single-filer federal, FICA, and CO state calculations. Actual withholding may differ based on your W-4 elections, pre-tax deductions, and other factors. Colorado starts from federal taxable income; this estimate applies the federal standard deduction as the base. Colorado's TABOR mechanism can temporarily lower the effective rate in high-revenue years, not modeled here.
